20mm Soviet vehicles for the Middle East.

I’m working my way through the last of the cheap diecasts that were available here in the UK a good while back.

For a bit of a change I decided to repaint some for the Middle East theatre, I’ve been tempted to expand that way gaming- wise, Arab/ Israeli Wars, maybe even Iran/Iraq War too.

Anyway these were a quick job. Acrylics, sponge weathering, oil pinwash and then pigments to finish.

A couple of BTR40s.

Thanks Dave. I picked up a few cheap diecasts for the IDF at a modelling show that got this project rolling.

When the diecasts became available for £2 each I bought as many as I could but sadly like you say the price has crept up now but at least they are still available.

      Cheers,

      Pete.

      • Hey I’ll look at thier East Germans I’ll check out the car as well. That 3D printing is very neat:) but it’s not up to where it will make anything you want. I’m hoping they will come out with ones where you can take a pic of something put in some other bits and it will make the item:) There is this Really Cool plane I wanted to make for myself on YouTube. It’s a AI plane the Video is called LAST DAY OF WAR! It’s super cool check it out if you get a chance. I really love that plane looks Super cool:)

Thanks for the video tip- great watch for ten mins or so.

3D printing is exciting times. I don’t think it will be that long until they can do what you describe. We are living in exciting times. If you poke about shapeways it is amazing what you can find to buy… that and the printers themselves are getting cheaper and cheaper.

        Cheers,

        Pete.

ps- The police car is nearly painted too.

Thanks Dave. The Bush war stuff is my current modern gaming interest- well that and the Cold War going hot in the 1980s. Try the sponge weathering technique it is really quick and easy to do, I use it on all my vehicles for weathering now. Next time I paint some I’ll do a tutorial if you like?

      Cheers,

      Pete.

      • Hey Would Love it if you show that way of painting. It looks Great on the models gives it a real look:) Thanks my friend

        Pete.

Elhiem miniatures has a pretty comprehensive range of 20mm East Germans, I’d get them from their if I were you. It is pretty much a once stop shop. The 3D printed Trabant cars that he has just released of fantastic too. Great for the DDR look on the table.

        Cheers,

        Pete.
