From the Shed: Winter Chechens.

A quick post… I had been rather pleased with the winter bases on the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. figures I recently finished so I churned out a handful of Under Fire Miniatures 20mm Chechen fighters.

The range has been sculpted wearing fairly substantial jackets and coats so it isn’t too much of a stretch to put the on winter bases. I went for a mixed of woodland and urban camo for them.

I really like how they have come out. I think some of the heavier support weapons on similar winter bases would look really good.

  1. These bases look great Pete and makes the blue really pop out. Very nice.

Agreed – they’ve come up a real treat, and the blue camo mixed with the more traditional schemes captures the feel of that region’s combatants really effectively.

Thanks Azazel I did base them on photos I’ve seen so I’m really glad that they measure up. Much easier to do research these days for paint schemes with the internet than when I started doing Chechen gaming some 15 year ago.

  3. The urban and woodland camo looks awesome man.

Looking fab, you’ve done a great job. There’s something about the mixture of irregular hats and lethal weopanry which makes them seem very dangerous and unpredictable!

Thanks Marvin. I know what you mean as guerrilla forces go the Chechens do seem to have the reputation for being more effective than most. Their occassional appearances in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan in recent years seems to bear this out too.

  5. Wow, these are very cool Pete. The urban camo really works well and is giving me some ideas. Thanks for posting another fine group of figs.
