From the shed: Aeronautica Imperialis.

I got the starter box set of GW’s Aeronautica Imperialis for xmas and wanted to get the planes painted before I played it.

The orks’ aircarft were easy to do – a spray of red paint and adding some details.

For the Imperial planes I also used a spray can, grey primer first then green over the top after masking first. Then just an easy job to add the details in and finish off with a wash.

Rather pleased with how they turned out.

I’ll be sure to post when I’ve played the game.

Nice. Those red guys need some grot-piloted/guided air to air missiles to even things up a bit and by “even things up a bit” I mean ensure an ork victory! πŸ™‚

Thanks Ann- having played a few games the orks are not to be underestimated but some grot- guided missiles will be great fun.

Yeah, I was a little tongue in cheek when I said that. I started out with Orks in 40K and while I usually felt like I was at a disadvantage except for a brief time in 5th, my greenskins were dangerous if underestimated. So I’m not surprised it is the same in the air power game. πŸ™‚

Orks do seem to veer between overpowered on one extreme and just for the lols in the other when it comes to 40k rules. But to be fair they always have an issue with game balance.

  2. I like them! I’m keen to find out how you get on (used to play Crimson Skies, the miniatures game)! πŸ™‚

Thanks John, game report coming soon.

I know of Crimson skies but never played it. I got some of the prepainted aircraft cheap of ebay a while back but have done nothing with them yet.

  6. Looking good dude, particularly like the Imperial camo- very 1980s RAF!

Nicely finished models, Pete. With those wing profiles, it’s a mystery to me how they ever become airborne πŸ™‚

Looking great Pete ,always love a spray can myself although I’m thinking of maybe airbrushing but it seems a bit expensive for what I do. Just a quick one, with what did you masks your units with?

  9. Nice stuff Pete. Very Cold War inspired.

Oh, I like that! I was going to paint my Imps with Contrast for the wash efect, but that camo looks very nice.. hmm…
