From the Shed: nuke marker and Pripyat sign.

I have managed to get some paint on the first bits of my 3D printed terrain and am really pleased with how it looks.

First up is the nuked city marker. Can see this getting some use in megagames as given half a chance most players in those games get rather homicidal if they have any nukes in their arsenals.

I also pained up the famous Pripyat sign for some games of Zone Alfa, when the club reopens. A simple grey scheme and plenty of weathering seems to set the tone right for the game.

    Very nice, they look great.

Those look great! Any issues with paint adhesion? That is a problem with printed stuff from Shapeways.

Thanks Jeff. No problem with paint at all. I used Mr. Surfacer 1200 as an undercoat. Depending what material you buy from Shapeways I know it can be a problem given how it is printed.

  4. They look ace, great work 👍

  5. These are just great!

Brilliant work there mate. Particularly like the fire & fury of the mushroom cloud.

Pretty neat. That sign brings back fond memories of my childhood during the Cold War, and yeah, what is it about games like that that cause players to go all Kill Crazy? I’ve done it myself! I wonder if it is a certain transient fatalism that comes out or fascination with death and apocalypse that seems to linger deep in the roots of our being?

Nothing like Cold War nostalgia and the certainty of a bi polar world rather than the geopolitical muddle we have now.

I think part of it is that in a game players don’t have to delay with the consequences post game… they think it is the last turn so why not… seen it in hobby megagames so many times.

That Mr Surfacer is great, can’t even tell the sign is a FMD print… awesome!

I was looking at the Zone Alfa rules recently. Looks like another fun game I’d be hard pressed to get anyone to play with me. :/

It is a fun little game, just had one go at it mind. Although we were just about to start a campaign of it down the club before the whole coronavirus kicked off. Shame you can’t find any local players.
