Powder Monkey Gaming.

My home town of Huddersfield has a fairly big gaming scene. It recently got bigger with the arrival of Powder Monkey Gaming located just outside the town centre it is within a short walk of mine. There are loads of great tables set up for Sci Fi, fantasy, and historical gaming as well as a growing selection of games, figures and paint.

I’ve been for a few games there already, it is a pleasure to play on their terrain.

A quick game of Kill Team.
Nicola and I tried out the Ravenfeast Viking Skirmish rules. I lost.

We also had a WW3 game of Fistful of Lead… which I also lost.

It is great to see a game shop so close and with the increasingly popular tornaments and events there I only hope that they grow from strength to strength.

Cheers,

Pete.

Progress Report: 1st Quarter 2022, and an update.

In the past threee months I have painted 36 28mm miniatures and 71 20mm miniatures. I have painted 1 1/72nd scale kit and read 19 books.

My ill health sadly continues… will be looking at some different treatment options this month hopefully.

The 3d printer seems to have given up the ghost too… it had sat broken for a while until I had the time to try and repair it. I swapped out what I thought was the broken part but it still doesn’t work- although the part I did replace works OK. I’m not keen to chuick more money at it though. I’m pretty sure if I knew what I was doing with a multimeter and a soldering iron I could fix it, as I’m mostly sure it is a broken wire. The downside is that I’ve not used a multimeter since the mid 1990s and I don’t have the time with uni work to be messing with it too much. This does leave me wondering what to do with it now….?

Kill Team 2 – my Death Guard aganistEvan’s Tau. The rather nice terrain is all his work.

Been getting the odd game in- Kill Team 2 and 40k against Nicola plus some interesting online stuff too. Hope to do a bit more.

Cheers,

Pete.

From the Shed: Salamanders Kill Team.

Using the GW quick build figures of Intercessor and Reiver Primaris space marines I’ve put together this little Kill Team. Coming in at just under 100 points they are pretty bijou but quite tough. Still the one time I tried them out I lost badly to Drukhari… hopefully they’ll do better for me now they are painted.

It will be interesting to see how they fare when the next addition of the game drops in a few months.

They really could do with some transfers for the shoulder pads as I’m not up to freehanding that kind of thing.

Cheers,

Pete.

From the shed: Kill Team terrain.

A quick post here to round off the month… I finished painting the last of my kill team terrain that I got from the Sector Sanctoris kill zone.

All were painted in acryllics then given an oil wash to bring out the details. A chaos cul;tist made his way intosome of the photos from a sense of scale. I may go back and add some zombie arms poking through one of the grates yet… undecided on that as it would involve basing it.

It will be good to game with fully painted terrain now.

Cheers,

Pete.

PS- here is a picture of me in my favourite Tshirt for IRO’s March challenge….

From the Shed: Servants of the Abyss for Kill Team.

GW briefly sold the sprue of the chaos models from the BlackStone Fortress game seperately. I picked a set up to use as a Kill Team as it has some interesting models in they should play different to what I already have. The mix of figures you can have really appeals to my in fluff/ lore terms as it seems to encapsulate the idea of a Chaos Warband really well in a way that hasn’t been done before.

I’ve just finished up the first half of that box.

The Rogue Psyker and Chaos Space Marine.

The Traitor guard (lovely figures these- wish more poses were available).

I’ll start work on the Beastmen and Negavolt Cultists as well as the bigger pack of cultist to go with them

Cheers,

Pete.

From the Shed: Alpha Legion Chaos Space Marines.

I was kindly given some of the old chaos Spaqce Marines by a friend so decided to paint them up as the infamous Alpha Legion. Notorious for the cunning and deceit, and the subject of many a meme, they look quite fancy in teal and silver. Also in the game lore they make extensive use Chaos cultists which is something that appeals. I also bought the commander from the Blackstone Fortress set seperately to go with them.

Within the squad I have a leader with power fist, a heavy bolter, a flamer, a standard and then a mix of bolters and chainswords with bolt pistols.

I thinking of getting a box of the fallen to convert and paint up in robes to play on their in universe nature.

Either way what I have now will make for a good Kill Team force.

Cheers,

Pete.

From the printer- sci fi terrain.

Firstly I hope everyone is dstaying safe and well in these lock down times.

I’ve been using my time to do a bit of 3 D printing. and getting them prepped for paint. This just consists of a quick clean up and a few coats of Mr. Surfacer paint.

First up are a selection of vats and tanks.

Then with have some tank traps and an ammo cache that I’ll probably use for Zone Alfa.

Definately for Zone Alfa is this sign from Pripyat seen here un prepped.

Finally I printed off this Nuked city marker- no real use for it yet but I’m sure it will appear in a megagage at some point. Players always seem to love flinging nukes about in them….
