From the Shed: Nurgle Daemon Engines… take two.

I don’t know what is happening to my posts. Things aren’t saving in drafts properly. I create a post then when it gets published there is nothing there. Will be a user error I’m sure… no matter.

I’ve painted up a Mythitic Blight Hauler (r) and a Fetid Bloat Drone (l) for my Death Guard 40k army. THey are the easy build models so were quick to build and fun to paint. Should be good to use in the game as they are surprisingly fast for my force yet still pack quite a punch.

Cheers,

Pete.

From the Shed: More additions to my Death Guard Forces….

Been a busy month this month so I’ve not got as much donews as I wanted still. I’ve finished the penultimate back of my death guard forces.

There is the new Lord of Virulance, a selection of Plague Marines and finally a Rhino that I resuced from scrap and detailed with parts from the bits box, I think it looks the part. Furthermore it should get my slow moving troops across the table a bit quicker too.

Cheers,

Pete.

From the Shed: Nurgle Daemon Prince

This is going to be the leader and centrepiece for my army- I really enjoyed painting him up and went to town with the washes and detailing. I imagined him as a Chaos Marine who has achieved his aim of becoming a Chaos Champion, rather than ending up as a Chaos Spawn, as seen in the previous post. Those 40k fans of a certain vintage will remember the Chaos campaigns you could run from the Realms of Chaos books. I alwasys fancied that sort of narrative driven skirmish campaign. I guess Necromunda fulfills that need now but I may yet go back to the old Rogue Trader ideas.

Cheers,

Pete.

From the Shed: Death Guard Characters

I’ve been using lockdown to get my Nurgle army painted, getting very close to it being finished now.

Over the next few days I’ll put up a series of posts showing what I’ve added to it…

First up some Character models:

Felthius, Typhus and a Lord of Contagion.

Tallyman, Malignant Plaguecaster, Plague Surgeon and Foul Blightspawn.

Some of these I’ll be able to use in Kill Team too which should be fun.

Cheers,

Pete.

From the Shed: Nurgle Terminators.

I’ve been slowly working my way through my backlog of minis. Now that there is a new (9th) edition of 40k coming out it give me extra impetus to get a decent sized army painted. So to help that along I’ve finished off my Death Guard Terminators.

I had already painted one of the blightlord terminators for a Kill Team game so I do have a squad of five in total. They all came from the Dolorous Strain box set.

I’ve also got a little squad of the Death Shroud versions- topoled up for melee they should be fairly powerful in the game.

Unfortunately I used up the rest of my Death Guard Green so I need to wait until the shops open back up to get some more to finish off my characters and Daemon Prince. Then it will be pretty much army done.

Cheers,

Pete.

From the Shed: Nurgle forces.

I’ve used some of my lockdown time whilst I’m not studying to get some bit painted for my nurgle force.

First up are the Plague Marines. i tried to use a wide a selection of weapons as possible to give me options for kill team. Also I’ve enough for 3 fivve man squads in 40k.

First up we have the Champion and icon bearer.

Next the two special weapon marines: blight launcher and plague sprayer (think chemical flamer).

Then we have three close combat marines- pretty powerful when you get them into a melee fight.

The Plagueburst crawler is a great kit, lots of detail fun to paint and build- adds a decent amount of firepower to my little force.

The plan is post lockdown to start with some 500 point games of 40k and see where it goes. At a stretch I could put out about 2000points I think but I want to work my way up there first.

Cheers,

Pete.

From the Shed: Pox Walkers.

Whilst I had some painting mojo I got these finished that had been sat on my painting tray from well before xmas.

I wasn’t happy with my first attempt at some pox walkers so I experimented with these. a mix of GW contrast paints and normal techniques with plenty of ‘nurgle’s rot’ added for slime effects.

poxwalkers

A bit paler than my normal style but I like them- Will do the rest I have to do like that.

Cheers,

Pete.
