One of my more leftfield projects from my recent list was a 6mm South America riverine set up. The first bits have been done for it…

Here we have 4 fast boats and 4 Narco subs. These will be great objectives for the game, I may also write a mini smuggling game to go with them too. These are 3d resin prints I bought from Spinneyworld and are wonderful models.

The colours and schemes are authentic one that have come from this excellent source, however not all of the schemes I picked have neccassarily been used on these particular craft, but I thought in this case the rule of cool trimuphs, at least for the visuals.

I can also highly recommend the author’s website for all matters naval.

Right now to get some more boats and infantry done for them….

Cheers,

Pete.

Outstanding! Interesting modeling subjects. I like that you’ve varied the camo on each sub.

Thanks- they are becoming a big problem these days. Whilst used in and around the Americas for a while now the first one to have crossed the Atlantic was found off Spain recently.

Thanks Mark. It is a fascinating thing to look at. There are whole ‘families’ of Narco Subs that have been found indicating master boat builders behind them.

Looking good Pete. When I was working with the Drugs education team, I did loads of research on the subs. The send divers into harbours where they weld brackets onto the bottom of ships and then hook the subs onto them, the weight of the sub won’t register on an ocean going ship. They also reckon that there are dissident sub designers out there that are working on a fully submersible long distance sub.

      Thanks.

Fascingating stuff- I’d heard of them covertly attaching stuff to ships. I guess we only find out about a lot of the stuff when it goes wrong somehow. Are you able to share the sources you used in your research?

      Cheers,

      Pete.

I will see if I can find anything Pete. One of my favourite stories was a US coastguard boats was on patrol and stopped a fishing boat and the DEA guys went aboard and everything was cool. About an hour later they received a distress call from the same fishing boat that had an engine fire so they came about and rushed to the rescue. On the way back they came across the biggest drugs haul they had got just floating in the sea, waiting to be picked up. Needless to say the DEA got there first. They also rescued said fishing boat and towed it to safety.

Thank you- that would be appreciated.

Good day for the coast guard there. Given how big the oceans are so much must go undetected….

        Cheers,

        Pete.
